The man who changed the course of history!
Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most fascinating figures in European history - a brilliant strategist, reformer and creator of the modern army. His campaigns are not only masters of tactics, but also stories of ambition, determination and dramatic twists of fate.
Napoleonic firepower
Artillery was Napoleon Bonaparte's pride and joy, and for good reason, as he himself began his military career as an artillery officer. He claimed: "Artillery wins the battle", and his approach revolutionized the use of cannons on the battlefield. The French artillery used equipment based on the Gribeauval system, which was introduced in the 1770s. This included 4-, 8- and 12-pounder cannons as well as 6-inch howitzers. 12-pounder cannons, such as the one included in this COBI set, formed the backbone of firepower in the main line of battle. Supported by trained gunners, these cannons could decide battles even before the infantry clashed.
What can you expect in the set?
- A figure of an artilleryman - dressed in a dark blue coat with red epaulettes and a chaco decorated with a red bobble. The figure is holding a rifle with a bayonet, which adds realism and character to the whole scene
- A model of a 12-pounder cannon of the Gribeauval system - consisting of a cast barrel and a movable, easily maneuverable gun carriage. The set also includes a cleaning rod for maintaining the barrel, making the model a more accurate representation of the details and artillery practices of the Napoleonic era.
- An ammunition box - with the necessary accessories and charges to operate the cannon. Inside are realistic cannonballs and a compartment for gunpowder, allowing a complete recreation of the historical scene.
