One of the "Terrible Twins”
ORP Sokół was a U-class submarine transferred to Poland by Great Britain in 1941. It quickly became one of the most recognizable and effective units of the Polish Navy during World War II.
Operating primarily in the Mediterranean Sea, it became famous for numerous successful combat patrols and attacks on Axis forces, sinking at least 14 enemy vessels: 13 ships and one warship.
Together with ORP Dzik, it formed the legendary duo known as the "Terrible Twins," whose actions were characterized by effectiveness and courage, earning the respect of the enemy and the admiration of the Allies.
After the end of hostilities, Sokół was returned to the Royal Navy and was subsequently scrapped in 1949.
